Fans gather to cheer on Maine pup in Puppy Bowl

PORTLAND, Maine (WGME) — Before Sunday night’s big game, there was another matchup “for the dogs.”

The annual Puppy Bowl took place before the humans took the field, and one of the pups who took part was from Maine.

Fans gathered at a Hilton hotel in Portland to cheer on Tula. Tula is from the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland.

Organizers at the Animal Refuge League were happy to see the support for Tula and what her presence could mean for the organization, and other pets like her.

“Tula, who’s in the Puppy Bowl, has already been adopted and we are so excited to showcase other adoptable pets at the animal refuge league by using the puppy to promote pet adoption,” said Patsy Murphy, with the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland.

Tula’s team “Ruff” fell short, losing to team “Fluff” in the Puppy Bowl.

But everyone was a winner in this one as the goal is to get animals like Tula adopted and to support local shelters.
